hey,

i am very supportive of getting computers to the south. i'm also
very grateful to the people who have worked hard to make these
shipments happen. it seems that gaba is pointing out some very
important issues that need to be figured out before more shipments
are sent. we need to learn from our experiences with these first two
shipments. who is on the receiving end and what is the commitment to
the project and how will distribution happen. i was in the irc
meeting with others today too and here's what one person had to say
about this idea for computers to africa:

Skidz1: there's a boat from japan doing that right now.
sphinx-Amb: Good ideas but we need 2 wait 4 the imc to be there first
sphinx-Amb: if not it will be a waist of time
sphinx-Amb: Let people understand the imc politics first
sphinx-Amb: truggle to start one
     Skidz1: i don't think they don't understand...
sphinx-Amb: then the training will get a meaning

sphinx brings up really good comments here.

i think having a blueprint for this project will help with other
shipments to different parts of the world and continuing the practice
and also for raising funds to help make it happen.

ciao
sheri
