I have just been reading on the net about the Boundaries to Bridges caravan tour. It sounds like the most possitive and productive thing to be happening at a time when the world lacks peace, direction and hope. I'm "very interested" in possibly joining the caravan for possibly two weeks in mid-December, when my term at university breaks up.
More about myself. I'm thirty-six and a visually-impaired mature student of international politics at University Of Wales in Aberystwyth. I'm a single-parent of a six and a half year old boy. My son's special-needs are that he is hearing impaired and parcially-sighted. He's bright though and loves people. We both love to travel and travel every summer to different festivals. However, politically, I "totally believe in" what the Boundaries to Bridges tour is about, i.e. giving a voice to a society who for far to long, has suffered exploitation, poverty and repression at the hands of the west and there own governments. I wouldn't be able to run a workshop, but could offer writings, thoughts and ideas, and a willingness to learn more about what an IMC is. At the end of my degree course, I hope to write for a political publication "alternative" and/or get involved with NGO work. I think joining the caravan, provided my son and I had support, would be phenominal experience; experience that few people with my set of circumstances would ever consider doing. My plan if I were to join the caravan, would be to network, learn, sing a rewritten version of John Lennon's "Give Peace A Chance", which I've performed on two occations. I would look to make lasting conections and write on the experience.
Please could some one contact me ASAP to discuss myself and my son joining the tour. Again, I think the experience would be incredible and as I sit here and write, I'm having several ideas of what to contribute to the tour.
Most sincerely,
Dawn Hunt
