[Imc-africa] Program of Alternatvie(indymedia) Conference in Dakar

Conference program 
 
After the Berlin based foundation  "umverteilen"  responded to our request for
donation by indicating their willingness to pay the tickets of a great chunk of
the African delegates. I too upon ring all the delegates I could reach by phone.
Which included all except the Kenyan delegation for whom i left msgs on their
machine and South Africa  for whom I had no phone number. 
 
The topic of the phone call included information on the new developments and the
fact about the complication of visa which led to ticket arrangements being made
only for 7th . Thus most of the african delegates  will only get to Dakar on the
7th. 
 
Also party to the discussion is Abdoul Aziz who is originally from Senegal, but
have been involved with indymedia Estrecho  invovled in Conference preparation.  
 
We've as well recieved information from part of the Swiss delegates who have
been in Dakar since Monday, Most of their main activity have been outreach to
the Dakar folks to participate in the conference. This outreach have included
the university, a couple of political groups,  and radio activists. 
 
Thus the proposition is for the  CONFERENCE PROGRAM TO LOOK AS FOLLOWS: 
# 1st to 7th March 2004 : 
-Much of the activity in the frame of the conference will be of an informal nature  
-Mostly focus on mobilisaton of Sengalese groups.  
-As well as more discussions on the program running from the 7th to the 14th.      
  
#We'll from now on continue with discussing the program of the 7th using the
draft that we already had. 
 
    * socialising and getting familiar with one another. 
 
    * Presentation/discussion of The history and structure of indymedia. 
 
Presentation/discussion on what is Alternative Media and discussion on Formal
Consensus. 
 
    * Workshop on Openposting and site admin, list admin, IRC . 
    *  imc-made films. 
    * Audio editing and audio streaming 
    * Video editing and video streaming 
    *  Basics on free-software/opensource; concept and how it works. 
    *  Workshop on Online security 
    * Discussion on Independent maintenance of local imc with reference to self
funding. 
    *  Alternative Media Festival Party 
    * Closing of Conference/ Alternative Media festival
