Hello Fabian! Good to hear from you. Sorry I took two days to reply to what seem
to be an urgent mail. I'm deep into organsing the last things for conference and
had to meet with the imc people traveling tomorrow to Dakar from Germany.
As you have known from the time we started to preparing this whole thing, it is
AN INDYMEDIA CONFERENCE. Which means it is absolutely important that we get
indymedia people down there to meet and discuss how to push for indymedia growth
and development in Africa as well as try to clarify those who do not exactly
undertand what indymedia is and would like to be part of it.
Thus we cannot have an indymedia conference without indymedia activists.
I do not understand what you mean by "not really in good terms with each other"
-We got support for the transport of the African delegates very late which made
it impossble for them to be there on the 1st of March 2004 which was the date
when the conference was to begin.
-Becuase of the long delay to get transportation for the African delegates, most
of the Global North delegates who had planned to pay their transport to come to
Dakar and support with workshops had to change their plans.
So we ended-up with Delegates transport and no activists with long experience
with the network to help with workshops. Myself I'm not yet through
prolongation of my residence papers so I could not be there till now. As soon as
I'm done with that I'll be on my way, hopefully early next week.
1-As soon as we got support for the delegates we had to organise the tickets,
visas and material for the conference(books).
2-Aziz(who speaks french very well) from indymedia Estrecho with whom I've been
in contact almost on a regular bases. Has been involved with organising housing
and other logistics like place where technical workshops will hold as well as
picking of the delegates from the airport. I've mailed to him all of the arrival
time for all the delegates except Angola whose arrival time I do not have yet.
So if yopu which to know anything about what is ready and what is not asked Aziz.
3-He is also going to help with showing where to shop so that we could buy food
ahd prepare it together becuase we have no funds to pay for any hotel meals for
any one. We'll cook together and eat together.
4-The delegats start coming on sunday and by latest monday evening they are all
there.
5-Luckily at short notice Maulwurf and Sven decided to make the trip down there
and help with workshops. He arrives on Monday evening too.
6-Here is a TRAIL PROGRAMME CONTENT, which means that from this draft Maulwurf
and Sven will make changes to feet the situation after talking with the
delegats that will be arriving:
