To all,
Happy to inform all of you that John and I arrived well in Kenya. Wish to also express my sincere thanks to all of you who participated in any and every way, right from organizing the conference to facilitating our attending the same. I must say that for me, the conference was an eye opener to the many opportunities that we as indymedia have to serve not only Africa but the whole world in the various issues that affect us globally.
I have learnt a lot and am better equipped to accomplish my obligations, thanks to the different facilitators in the conference and congratulations to all of you for a job well done!
For those who were unable to attend, I hope the next event shall be better organized to enable as many as possible to attend.
Gilberto, I hope you've had a safe trip, Chrisi, I hope you have also succeeded to travel back, and to all the rest, all the best and may God bless you.
To Sphinx, A big THANK YOU!
Grace.

Good news to know you guys are back. As soon as Chrisi comes back I'll have to
make a twiki of after Dakar with information about how it all got to Dakar and
after Dakar.
YOU FORGOT TO ANNOUNCE THAT NEXT MEETING IS IN 12MONTHS IN NAIROBI-KENYA
Those who contributed energy wise as well as finance and other moral support for
Dakar include a very long list. There was the very intensive discussions it
provoked on this list and imc-finance list.
There are the activists who threw their energy without reserve behind Dakar like
Jay from Philly. Whom in two weeks was able to pull so much interest and got the
folks in Philly so involved they donated twice. Accompanied with lil sweet
messges that help one going when all seemed blink.
-There is the folks of IGAP of UC-IMC whom in many ways set the pace of things.
Without whose support we could have risk a falure as Danny and Sven coming down
there would have not been very easy.
-Then the comrades from Berlin who involved "umvertilung" without which it
could have been impossible for the African delgates to be in Dakar.
-The comrade from Holland whom in no time pulled XminusY into the project.
With their 2500 EUR donation.
-Then the local Imcs who either supported us at the discussions at finance-even
though things did not work there- or who sent donations. Small at times but you
knew they wanted to do more if they could:
=NANTES (FRANCE)
Hi
We saw that differents imc of Africa need money to organise a meeting in
Dakar. Imc-nantes wants to make a donation of 50 EURuros for that. How can we
make it ?
thanks

=PHILLY (USA)
Imc-Philly had a fundraiser on Saturday and raised $400 to go toward
conference funds. Not as much as we would have liked, but it was a great
fundraiser and lots of fun.
+ more from PhillyIMC for the conference
Amount:$65,00 USD
=HOUSTON(USA)
Hello,
Houston Indymedia approved $100 to donate to your conference about six
weeks ago. However, we mistakenly decided to wait until after our Feb 28
fundraiser to send you the money. Now we've discovered your conference is
almost over. Do you have any remaining conference-related expenses our
$100 help with?
Best Regards,
Ratch

=MANILLA (PHILIPINE)
Comrade,
Imagine we have the same name but unfortunately i may not be able to help
you financially considering that my money is not enough for even the
lowest expense that imc-africa needs. Imc-manila also has problems
financially/logistically, But I would be willing to help in otherways.
E-mail me if there are other things that I and manila-indymedia can be of
any help. Really sorry and GOODLUCK!!!
=MELBOURNE (AUSTRALIA)
-MELB
Amount: 49,00 EUR
Subject: from melb imc
Note: this is all the money we have as a collective right now. but we don't
need it. i just wish it was more. in solidarity, melb imc.
All of this in alot of ways did make Dakar happen.
Now comes Nairobi. In 12 months one will expect imc-Ambazonia strengthen, most
of the imcs that are presently going through the process of becoming approved in
newimc most have made it to be come full imcs. Here I'm thinking of imc-Kenya
and IMc-Angola. In the same way those which took contact like DRCongo and Mali
should hopefully succeed as well or be some way into the process. Hoping we
could hear from Senegal soon at Newimc.
The folks from UCIMC are sending some comrades to South Africa in the coming
days to be there before the freedom from Apatheried Aniversary. They'll take
some hardware with them thus one is hoping that IMC SA as strong as they are now
will be even stronger in 12 months.
On the other hand one just hopes that somehow IMC Nigeria should get bakc to
it's feet and be able to be in Nairobi too.
As it was said by the Evaluation report.
"May this lead to better understanding, so we can find joint solutions to our
interconnected problems and open new ways of cooperation."
Nairobi will be both stock taking of the developments after Dakar and
preparation for TUNIS. Where the next World Summit on the Information Society
(WSIS) meetings will take place.
An opportunity for African activists and other activists arround the world with
long experience in alternative media doing a join project.
The changes that Africa needs will start by a little participation by each and
everyone.
