Well Chrisi! I just do not have the strength to fight. Getting old.
You got into this thing alot late and surely have not had time to look at the
archives of this list to know where the discussions started.
May be NeBe did not have enough time to tell you that the idea of a Caravan
through Africa was originally my idea. It is even not a new idea my dear
Christi. An almost similar idea was proposed by Winter from IMC-Nigeria long
ago. A great idea but it died becuase of lack of funds for such a project.
At the time the delegates for Dakar were reduced from three(3) per an imc to
one(1) it was already in the direction dakar is to prepare for the next meeting.
Surely you have not looked in the archives so do not know that too. it is OK.
And if you worked on fundraising for Dakar and all the good sounding words
about professional fundraiser and experts in organising stuff like that etc said
at the time ,then you'll know different.
If you wish to or prefer to participate in an African wide Caravan tour that is
absolutely fine. We have lots of stuff in inymedia going on simultaneously
sometimes. Gerf action and Munich. In july this year Sustainability Conference
in Australia and indymedia European Summerchamp in Croatia and the
Anti-Globalisation film festival in Berlin, as well as the Peoples Global Action
meeting, and surely an other Easter meeting in Asturias Spain, surely an other
meeting from EYFA and alot more. Everyone will chose which they prefer and
participate. it is permitted.
If you think that Nairobi is not the thing but that an African Tour from Tunis
to Cape town ending in a Conference is the thing, that is fine. On this list
like on every other indymedia network list. People make proposals or discuss
proposals from others. There after if you have made your point your participate
in th project of your choice as you wish and can ford.
Dakar is not the first planned indymedia Regional meeting in Africa. it is the
first to hold. The tour is not the first African planned tour. it could be the
first to hold. When Winter proposed it then he had lots of support from some
folks from England and arround the network. But it couldn't work just becuase it
is seen as a good idea.
Lots of Fun Christi
