HI Rovin,
Yup - it is very important to get some clear
definitions of terms like `off-topic post', `spam', etc. I see the best
way to do this as developing the aims of A-IMC, the Ed policy and the
Features policy to get the basic structure of ``how'' we do things, and
then add definitions of terms/matters that arise as an issue to
Definition lists on the aims, Ed policy and Features policy.

Perhaps this is best done as a stand-alone list of defined terms. Either
way, what I am trying to say is I think it very important to distinguish
between the objective and the subjective - I see the policies as being
objective collections of rules that giude our IMC behaviour. The aims of
A-IMC and the definitions of some key terms that are used in the
policies are the subjective (they depend on the changing values of the
people in A-IMC at any given time).

So, I think we need to get the policies tidied first, then we can tinker
with the definition of terms like `spam' and `off-topic' to our hearts
delight. Of course, all aims, policies and definitions of A-IMC are
capable of being reviewed at any time - just that I think that it makes
no sense to have a clear idea of what an `off-topic' post is, if the
policy that says how to hide it is unclear.

Hope this helps more than it confuses - I should probably give a demo
version of what I mean on the twiki, and post that to this list.

Cheers,
                Brian.
