Kia ora Don,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I have been at
the Aotearoa Rainbow Gathering near Takaka and have not had
access to a computer since I last emailed you.

Frankly I am hesitant to dicuss anything with you due to
the abuse and threats I have been receiving from you.
However I understand you are unwell and in a stressful and
frustrating position. Please believe I am just as keen as
you are to get something done about pollution and to expose
Dow's part in it.

I might be able to meet with you while I'm in the north
island and talk further about how to make progress on this
issue. But only if you promise not to beat me up. I would
like to bring a cameraman and a sound recordist - is this
acceptable?

In respect to your recent emails I will deal with the
issues in the order you have raised them.

Re: Article #2986 dk's nieghbors daughter

I checked and this is not hidden. If it was hidden it has
been restored.

Censorship does not exist on AIM. Once added to the
newswire a post can NEVER be removed from the site. If it
contravenes our collectively developed editorial policy it
can be moved to the Hidden Files area:
<http://www.indymedia.org.nz/hidden.php3>

If you disagree with the editorial policy please have a
look through it <http://www.indymedia.org.nz/edpolicy.php3>
and propose some changes to the AIM email list
<aotearoa@indymedia.org>.

>> I just scanned and posted a newspaper clipping many
would like to read, and guess who hidden filed it real
quick under the guise of "sexist" <<

Really? In your first email you said you lacked the money
to buy a scanner. Glad to hear you have managed to get one.

Reposting material from mainstream media is a grey area for
AIM. We do not enourage it, especially if the material is
copyright, although we allow it if the article is
particularly relevant to a current issue. Scanned pictures
of newspaper text are particularly discouraged as they take
up more resources (bandwidth etc) than a typed text version
of the article and are often hard to read.

Without knowing exactly which post you are referring to I
cannot comment on whether or not it was sexist and whether
hiding it was appropriate in that instance.

>> AIM is losing credibility thru "moderator" personal
oppinion. <<

Newswire clerking is a voluntary position. It needs to be
done to prevent spam from pushing useful content off the
newswire. It's a complicated and underappreciated job. If
you disagree with the way the editorial policy is being
implemented, the policy itself explains how to register
complaints.

The volunteers who work on the AIM site have a genuinely
want to actively involve every NZ resident in what we do.
We are here to help people like you publish the information
you have. However there are limits to our resources and our
tolerance of abusive attitudes. A little patience and
mutual respect goes a long way.

The 1080 feature was a good start, hopefully we can use
more of your research on AIM in the future.

RnB,
Strypey
