Hi,
I was trying to promote the article as a feature. I tried to edit the
feature so that only the first 2 paragraphs were visible - as the
feature is now currently. Unfortunately I deleted the text also from
the feature along with the photos. I then resubmitted the article and
linked the feature through to that one. I thought I deleted the
comments permanently, and was going to let people know soon. I had
become a little obsessed about writing the article today.
----- End -----
Eek, well not to worry this kinda stuff is easy to do. I've gone
rethreaded the comments on the feature to the new article [editors con't
do this btw, you need access to the database itself].
It's pretty hard to delete stuff permanently, the only way is if you go
to 'delete' and then hit 'purge'.
So the process is:
* go to 'article options'
* click 'Make this a feature'
* click edit and alter away. The summary appears on the front page, the
body is what you get after you click the 'read more'.
* an email will be sent out to ed's with email addresses
* other ed's can vote, you can vote once 24 hours have passed [this is a
bit of a hack, the idea is that 3 ed's need to approve of a feature,
but it only requires 2 once 24 hours has passed].
* If the feature appears a somewhere in the middle of the front page,
you can promote it to the top by hitting 'update timestamp' [i
actually forget the exact wording].
seeya,
finn
