i just put something up about this on frontpage. My feelings are that we should leave it up and let him bring action against BIMC if he so wishes...however this is a senstive situation with funding and jobs on the line, and if either of those are being put under threat by BIMC submissions then maybe it would be best to remove the offending article. After all if the 'freinds of matthew' wanna stay annonymous why should we take all the flak? some things are worth fighting for and mibbee this isn't one of them.
i'd also like to mention what martin mantxo ( a ecc worker ) had to say about this when this article first reared its ugly head.
In the words of Joe strummer (RIP) should it stay or should it go now?
cheers
ian

Dear IMC lot:
Let's stick to the guidelines. Perfect. So we just hide stuff when is
racist, homophobic or sexist. No matter taht other times the information
can damage so seriously individuals, jobs and communities!!!!!
Well I think I stated reasons from what that 'leak' was so serious. the
allegations are serious but they are part of a dispute and
investigation. i can say more but I can't because all parts have agreed
confiditiality, but taken in consideration these and otehr allegations,
justice will be made at the Easton community centre. As i said in my
writing regarding confidetiality, not even ourselves had access to such
information. It comes from someone aht perhaps had the courage or teh
decency of exposing this situation. But this is using her wirting in a
way taht she had agreed not to operate. teh consequences are clear: she
is panicing and taken days off (and this is confidential too so please
don't go and fucking print it). She has already ghad the first 'warning'phonecall. this document was stolen (maybe hacked from her computer).
the police has been called to investigate. and if we are concerned it's
because it's up on Indymedia. In some way, you would agree taht one of
the problems with Indymedia is taht irt allows to cover-up the identity
of whoever is posting stuff. in thios case you may think taht this is
information is vital for the community and that freedom of speech should be respected. There are many parts in this including the community who
would be fucked up if this conflict doesn't end in the right way and
this information takes it to a very different way. i know it has been
e-mailed around, etc. Nothing we can do, nothing you can do. In the
meantime this person it's a risk, this person feels a risk, she feels
abuse and betried. Fifteen jobs are a risk without funders who want to
invest till the conflict is not over, everyone is waiting without
knowing, and you out tehre have such need of being informed taht you
don't really think of teh consequences. The community has its centre at
risk, and you will tell me taht freedom of speech for some gossiping and
for someone who has nothing better to do but to steal from a community
centre is more important than that. You know the implications and you
knoW taht this is not right. You have been kept puting that piece up, so
I believe taht you have it very clear. Bless you.
This conflict has been going on for three months and that's why no-one
else has treated the subject. Among them we can include the Bristolian
who -believe me- would be very glad to expose such thing, based round
the corner and with loads of information on the matter or the Estonian
also based round the corner and with loads of information and who has
already exposed othe irregularities in the centre before. Or myself: you
doubt that i wouldn't like something like that being published in other
situation? You know me, so take in consideration what I say, though I
believe the damage it's done.
