I also think that the tendency to post what is
actually a comment on a newsire story, as a new thread
also constitues abuse of the newswire.
RE the guidelines:
At the last meeting there was a suggestion that we
should open up the discussion about our guidelines to
the users of the site. We could do this by having a
frontpage article saying that we are reviewing our
guidelines, posting the stuff that was suggested to
this list by Kyra a couple of weeks ago. here:

We could give a month or so for people to rework/
argue over them, then we could then have a meeting and
try to reach some kind of consensus.
Does anybody fancy writing the frontpage piece?
