Myself & Fairford Peacewatchers are the new moderators of the Direct
Action Against War group (DAAW). We feel that DAAW can be developed into
a network hub for direct action, & a launchpad for related groups &
projects such as DSEi, fairfordpeacewatchers, & whatever comes next.
DAAW was initially formed in Jan 2003 in response to the
overcentralization of anti-war networks in the hands of the steering
committee of Stop-The-War. We got off to a good start, with
communications around USAF Fairford especially improved in the lead up
to the National Demo at Fairford on 22nd March.
These gains then began to unravel as DAAW became subjected to denial of
service attacks. This coincided with ever increasing levels of spam. The
result was an almost terminal decline in our membership as confidence
was lost in it's security & usefulness as a method of sharing info &
co-ordinating events.
This has now changed. The message archive has been cleaned up (visit the
link above), persistent spammers have been removed, & all mail is
currently being checked for spam (which also functions as a barrier to
future denial of service attacks). We hope you will join us (see the
email above).

James Venables
