Dear BIMC,

unfortunately, I don't think this issue has been resolved at all. James
Venables has an outstanding complaint against my behaviour, and is
asking BIMC to suspend my access as an administrator of the site. No-one
has commented on this.

As I understand it, the complaint is in two parts.

1. Sending unsolicited private emails to James. I sent this email as a
reply to an email address that he had posted on the Indymedia site. I am
unclear why this is unacceptable.

2. Copying James and Jografer on the same email, leading to the 'breach
of privacy'. Again, both users have posted their emails onto the site.
Same problem as above.

(3) I'm not sure whether this forms part of the complaint; there is an
additional issue, regarding the content of my private email, suggesting
that the discussion in question could be held elsewhere. I urged James
to respond privately to me if he disagreed. There were no threats of
censorship, implied or otherwise. If he had replied that he disagreed
with my suggestion I would have wholly accepted this as the end of the
matter. Instead, this private email has been forwarded to this list as a
complaint against me.
The question for BIMC volunteers is how we can debate similar issues
with other users, in public or private, without attracting such public
complaints?

I need some guidance, particularly on points 1 and 2.

Regards,

Crash
