another week another flame war. phew
okay heres my tuppence. There has become an increasing problem with users
of the site abusing the newswire / comments. All crash was trying to do
was to rein this in a bit - and I'm 100% behind him. JV's e-mail address
has been in the public domain for quite a long time - as sam pointed out.
The comments function is to allow people to comment on the given posting -
not for people to use it as some kind of chat room. Theres lots of forums
out that will cater for idle chit chat eg http://altbristol.org.uk/ or
http://www.urban75.net/vbulletin/ This isn't anything to do with being
PC but a respectful request for users of the site to remember what BIMCs
purpose is - an alternative news service for Bristol & the Southwest.
Please keep comments on topic.
I haven't appreciated in the slightest the language that James is using. I
find it disrespectful, unnecessary & inappropriate for a public e-mail
list. If we can't be polite to one another whats the fuckin point?
Crash has been involved in BIMC since its inception and I find his input a
valuable contribution (along with JV's STW newsletter i might add). There
is absolutely no need for Crash to step back from admin-ing the site as in
my opinion he hasn't abused his position. Crash - I myself wrote to Paul K
& Zaskar last week asking them both to calm it down after their public
online tiff ended up in two threads being removed. I hope that answers your
question.
Banging out the stories that are of interest to the people of Bristol is
the most important thing here - all the rest is peripheral.
