Hello James and others,
I now appreciate the reasons behind your complaint while appreciating
your apology for making it. I also appreciate that attempts to encourage
users to change their behaviour on the site require can only work
through the editorial policy, agreed by consensus. Although attempts at
moderation were discussed at the previous meeting, it would be better
for the group to come out with a statement. Therefore I think tomorrow's
meeting has to attempt to forge a new version of the editorial
guidelines. I don't expect that to be easy!
Perhaps there also needs to be a statement added to the subscribe page
for this list, as many people (myself included) were probably not aware
when joining that the list is public, meaning that all our email
addresses are becoming googled.
James, if people are sending forged email under your name that is
extremely serious - but as Tom pointed out, it should be possible to
trace these unfortunate people.
Regards,
Crash
