Happily, that's not correct.

IMC UK syndication will use an open standard called RSS, which means that
completely different software can be used on different sites and they will
still be able to syndicate to/from each other.

However, not all software supports RSS, but it should be fairly simple
for a programmer to add it to any open code.

The people on imc-uk-tech, especially Chris Croome, will be able to give
you more details on what needs to be done to get it to work.
