hi all
as you prob know, bristol stop the war are holding a conference in bristol
on 12th july 2003. they're sending b-imc slightly mixed messages - on the
one hand james told me that the bstw group felt there 'wouldnt be room' for
b-imc as no access to computers, but now di has asked me to aks whether
anyone would be interested in doing some projection / visuals (?) for it?
cant make it myself, but if anyone's interested in going along and
projecting stuff for them... contact james at venables.plus.com and tell him di
asked us...

BRISTOL ANTI-WAR CONFERENCE : SAT 12th JULY
Organised By Bristol-Stop-The-War & Colombia Solidarity Campaign
TITLE: 'War, Resistance & The Struggle For Human Rights'
DATE: Sat 12th July. TIME: 10:00am - 5:30pm. FREE ENTRY

This conference aims to be the 1st in a series of events, which will
link up the 'War On Terrorism' to the broader state of our planet, &
the global & local communities within it. Conference will focus on
the Middle East, Latin America, & grass roots Bristol politics. Later
events aim to cover Africa, Asia & beyond. Conference will focus on
the international in the morning, with afternoon sessions focussed on
resistance within Bristol. Morning & afternoon will begin with an
opening plenary & then move on to a choice of workshops in 5 rooms.
BASIC AGENDA & TIMETABLE FOR THE DAY:
10:00-11:30 Opening Plenary. Iraq, Palestine, Latin America, & Middle
East. Includes - George Galloway MP, Luisa Raby (Colombian Exile),
Eric Herring (Bristol Uni). Judith Brown (Palestinian Solidarity).
11:30-12:00 Coffee Break.
12:00-1:20 Workshops. Choice Of 5: Learning from Latin America, The
Inevitable Defeat of Imperialism, Digging in with the Zapatistas -
Solidarity Work, Iraq Under Occupation, The Road Map.
1:20-2:20 Lunch Break.
2:20-3:40 Workshops. Choice Of 5. European Social Forum & it's
Relevance to Bristol, How Defend Asylum Seekers, Direct Action -
Myths & Practicalities, Organising Local Groups, Legal Workshop.
3:40-4:00 Coffee Break.
4:00-5:30 Closing Plenary. On where we go from here, & what we have
achieved. Includes - Mounri Ashi & Khalid Azwi (MAB), Alex Gordon
(RMT), Speakers from Bristol, Birmingham & the Fire Brigades Union.
