75 people occupied Swindon Council Chamber for 2 hours last night. This =
People's Assembly passed a motion condemning this unjust, inhumane and =
illegal war.
Beatles and Marly were sung and media contacted by mobiles from within =
the Chamber.
Following the Stop the War Bannner the demonstrators peacefully left the =
building into the glare of the media. A minutes silence and a die in =
followed on the steps of the Town Hall.
BBC Radio Swindon carried the news item on their bulletins today and =
more in-depth coverage featured recordings of the mobile phone contact =
during the occupation.
The demonstrators acknowledged the contribution of Swindon's =
schoolchildren and students who participated in the occupation building =
on earlier successful student action.
The event is recorded in a poem written by one protestor present, Tony =
Hillier.
