DATE FOR THE COMMUNITY NEWS DAY
The Cube is now booked for Saturday 14th June 2003, all day and evening. Hallelujah.
Mike and I've put down a deposit with the Cube.
So, we can now be approaching people re. leading workshops with a definite date.
COPY FOR CUBE PROGRAMME
There is some confusion over when the Cube need copy for their programme: they did say 10th April, but we suspect it's 10th May. So we'll check on this, and if it is as we think, we need to make sure we give them a couple of lines to use as a preview in May's programme, and the full spiel for the June one, obviously. We will need to get the bulk of the info to them in advance of 10th May tho, so that they can contact national press etc.
SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY
A suggestion now is that, in addition to the three 'sessions' already agreed, we add a tech session at the beginning of the day, where people can turn up in the morning and help set up the computers for the day, ask bimc-tech people questions etc.
NEXT MEETING INFO
The next meeting is planned for Thursday 10th April, 7.30pm at the Hillgrove.
I'll post this up again nearer the time, but just some advance warning for once!
NOTES FROM LAST MEETING
We did have a (short-notice) meeting last night as per John's suggestion on this list, mainly to bring each other up to speed on what we'd been doing re. the site in the last week. General consensus is that its working well, but more people need to be doing the front page, so that we can keep up-to-date now that Bristol is generating an increased amount of news and postings!
We also discussed moving the server over to Bristol, this needs to happen at some point.
Kate at the Cube has built a programme that allows you to 'ring in' articles by phone which get uploaded to the site as audio files - that might've been good last week ;-) Her machine is currently being used in London, but she's happy to build another if we can guarantee there'll be use for it...
Most importantly, we do need to exchange phone numbers with each other, we realised no one has a number for Sam or John for example. Maybe you could email me or Ian or someone with your numbers for future ref, so we can keep everyone connected even when we're away from the computers!
GENERAL FEEDBACK
Over the last week several of us have been promoting the site at the various demos, actions and other uprisings across Bristol, at Fairford etc. and this has definitely had an effect, with more new people posting and commenting. Also we've had great feedback from users of the site who we've met. There's a lot of excitement around the site at the moment, and we can be proud of it.
EDITORIAL POLICY
Also it was pointed out last night that the site can only grow and grow now, and as it gets more attention we will need to be on it more in terms of monitoring postings etc. the uk site has just amended its editorial policy to make clearer what the point of imc is, and it is suggested that we should also update ours.
