hi eugene
thanks for contributing to Bristol Indymedia (b-imc). in response to your posting, dunno whether krs is speaking on behalf of b-imc, but dont think so (i'm a volunteer on the project myself but it is an open process so i dont necessarily know every other volunteer).
just wanted to pull you up on one thing: "I don’t imagine that a plug on an activists’ bulletin board is going to shift any extra copies."
i know that the content is activist-centric at the moment but we continue to work at making the site as accessible as possible to as broad a range of people as possible, so the above misinterpretation of the site's purpose is a touch frustrating to hear! like Venue, we don't have an editor right now, we also don't have any staff writers, an office, a budget etc. etc. but we are doing our best so dont write us off just yet...
finally, seeing as you blew your own/Venue's trumpet so decisively in your posting (alright yes, the MV article did persuade me to buy the mag for the first time in years), I feel duty-bound to respond in kind:
"(bristol indymedia) could become as influential as any major local paper or TV news programme. Potentially the most radical local media development in 100 years." (Venue magazine. June 2002.)
we may not be reaching the potential you suggested just yet, but just give it time...
do keep using the site, and send our regards to whichever two of your officemates have the nous to check it out!
cheers, kyra
