Well, I am a bit of an outsider looking in and dont really understand the polotics here. Maybe I can take a clearer view on this rather ridiculous and upsetting affair.
Firstly this discussion (ahem) must be that, a discussion. It discredits us all if just becomes name calling.
To me this issue appears simple. IM is a cooperative with agreed rules. If an individual breaches collectively owned guidelines for feature posting then it is proper for ANY volunteer to remove it. It does not need to be a group decision as the collective has agreed the guidelines to allow individuals to take decisions on behalf of the collective. However discussion at this point may be helpfull.
I think it is rash to ever promote your own work without discussion. Let's face it it, it is hard to be sure you are objective concerning you own projects. As I said befor 'peer review'.
However having an article pulled is challenging to our pride so it is essential to notify the person of the decision citing the part of the democratically agreed guidelines that have been ignored. This keeps the whole process from becoming personalised. If all feel that the person will accept their decision with good grace there should be no need to do this anomyously.
If the person 'pulled' remains angry and resenfull and acts out these feelings angainst others then I would suggest that they reflect on their reasons for being part of the IMC and whether or not they have the required skills and abilities to contribute anything value.
I assume guidelines are very clear, if not it is ESSENTIAL that they be made so through common consent ASAP.
Tony sending a private discussion to everyone is very unfortunate. You really are just causing yourself hurfull stress by doing this.
Hope this helps....
