hello
after this wednesday nights screening - we're then booked for December
3rd. Here's the copy I gave to the Cube for that one...
======================================================================================================
Title indymedia film nights
Body of text - An ongoing showcase of contemporary filmmakers who are
finding new forms of cinema to show resistance to Globalisation throughout
the world.
Tonights line up includes a short community film from the EASTON COMMUNITY
ASSOCIATION, the POPSTAR LIBERATION FRONT's film on the local Hardcore
scene, a short film from ARGENTINA INDYMEDIA & a stripped down version of
'WE INTERUPT THIS EMPIRE' - on the barricades in San Fransisco.
The main feature will be FOOTPRINTS - Filmed in Afghanistan and
Laos, Footprints is a study of the effect of cluster bombs on people and
landscape. Where once a landscape was life-providing, after contamination
by these bombs, it becomes a source of terror and death. The film studies
the landscape and its people, and enquires into the lives and dreams of
the victims of cluster-bomb accidents. And finally, it analyses the design
and military purposes of these weapons, and questions whether they should
be subject to restrictive laws in the future.

I'm pleased to say that the director of FOOTPRINTS Ben Hopkins has offered
to come and introduce this.
I also have a screening penned in for Tuesday December 9th in
Bath + January 26th for next one at Cube. I have Big Noises' 'Fourth
World War' pencilled in, but we still need some appropriate short films,
so if you have any ideas please let me know - especially local stuff.
We still need someone to introduce the films this coming Wednesday ( tom -
are you ok to do this? )
On the question about fundraising in order to make these night free ( Bath
screenings are free ) I would say that its the main reason for doing
this. I think it would make the nights more inclusive - and ultimately
busier. If we can - why not?
cheers
ian
