Yes, I think it was wise to pull the thread. It was becoming threatening and very personal. I was afraid that Paul was also doing real harm to his mental well being and reputation by posting recklessly when vulnerable.

James, if it is me who you refer to as a childish baiter and feel I am spoiling the site then I feel I must take issue. My postings are an honest reflection of my views and I dont think I have ever 'baited' without also contributing my thoughts. If I have I shall be carefull not to and I of course apologise to you all.

It is in my nature to take a rather offhand approach in my posts, indeed I also debate in this way verbally. I do find it hard to take anything at all serious really. As I have previously said I will reflect on this further but I dont think my posts are 'ad hominem' attacks but they are frank challenging and slightly wicked. I do not seek to cause offence but it would seem that the act of taking an opposing view can in itself unleash personal abuse. This is unfortunate given the aims of this site.

Of course if you all feel my style is damaging the site and my thoughts and style is not welcome here then I will stop posting. Strangely I did stop using and reading this site some time ago and then some person posted that 'come back zaskar' post. I am certainly not saying this vindicates me and I do not seek blanket vidication.

I love the lively and colourfull debate on IM and feel it is something that is bound to happen when freedom of expression is allowed in a public forum.

I presume jographer is the other person you and others may find unacceptable. Well I rarely agree with him/her but can usually see the point he is making and enjoy the leaps of his humour.

If there are to be some holy cows when it comes to targets for wit and irony and styles of personal expression that to be censored then I clearly have no place on this site.

Finally on a different note...

Ian, can we leave the 'fun to buy' vid for december screening now I have got over my attack of arty preciousness (rare moment of hubris for me) ? Now it is going to shown in the real world on a big screen I have gone all fussy on getting it just right. Also I think next night is at the cube. This one I can attend if it is thought wise for me to facilitate a debate. Maybe I had best not do that in the light of the above (hoho).

And.... I aim to go to the demo on thursday with my cam mic tripod and will do a kind of enertaining 'docurantcomedysoap' of the day. Not sure how it will shape up but it wont be dull. Clearly I am getting totally paranoid as my own comedic view of the world may be felt by all to be an innaproprite slapping of another holy cow's hide.

Cheers.
