Say It Loud a Bristol based communnity arts group is hosting the Bristol Poetry and Roots Festival with 2 shows at St Georges Bristol, (off Park St.) on Oct.7th and 8th and on National Poetry Day at CEED Media Hall, Dean St. St Pauls. On October 7th Simon Armitage and Glenis Redmond a top African American performance poet will head the bill. On October 8th the stage will be shared by John Otway, Attila the Stockbroker and Murray Lachlan Young. Tickets 10/8 quid and Box Office is 0117 9230359. National Poetry Day October 9th at CEED Media Hall, 17-19 Dean St. sees Jalaal Nurridin the Grandfather of Rap and co-founder of the radical New York group The Last Poets plus Bristol Black Writers, Open Mike and DJ Henri who plays some wicked roots reggae.
