[IMC-bristol] PROPOSAL: international e-mail to IMC's to solicit short films?

I've been musing our local focus- and what could be
seen as our isolation from the broader IMC network.

I'd like to send out a 'mayday message' from BIMC to
all the other IMC's worldwide, partly just to break
our isolationism, and partly to see if they have any
shorts that they could send us on DVD or Kazaa that we
could use in the first section of the film night
alongside our local shorts.

I was thinking due to translation/subtitling
difficulties just to ask the English language IMC's
for short films (UK, N America, Australia, Ireland
etc) and to just send a 'hello' message to the non
English IMC's.
somthing like:

"Bristol is situated on the southcoast of the UK, we
set up a IMC two years ago and have a 'local focus'
newswire where we only allow stories that have a local
connection.
http://bristol.indymedia.org/mod/info/display/policy/index.php
We have sent this message to show solidarity with the
IMC network on this mayday.
We would like to help foster international
communications throughout the IMC network and are
interested in what challenges or sucesses you have had
in the last year.

about us:
We are trying to expand the IMC principles to local
community media initiatives in reflection of the fact
that the corporate media fails to serve many sections
of the community not just 'activists'.
We would like to help foster international
communications throughout the IMC network and are
interested in what challenges you have faced in the
last year.

In the last year we have run a sucessful community
media day:
http://bristol.indymedia.org/newswire/display_any/13092

set up a monthly fim night at www.cubecinema.com

and we are associated with a internet radio project
http://bristol.indymedia.org/mod/info/display/radio/index.php

As part of our film program we show a selection of
local short films, we would be interested in screening
any English Language short films that have been
produced by other IMC participants."

As ever the above text is just a idea, and if you
think the idea is a good one then the message would
have to be finnessed (considerably) by the group as a
whole at the next meet up. We could then send it to
the translation list, and then to the individual
IMC's.

Cheers Sam
