Hi all!
I am a final year student, reading Cultural and Media Studies at Bristol
UWE. I am
currently researching for my dissertation and am looking for some
assistance. I intend to
research and explore the concept of infotainment in an attempt to realise
the extent to
which our news content is ‘dumbed-down’ and standardised for ease of
audience
consumption and the implications this has for the knowledge and
understanding of
‘serious’ issues by the global audience.
To adequately research this, I am trying to conduct a series of interviews
with various professionals, who maybe involved in the production of news and
potentially infotainment, to see how they been affected by the changing
discourses of news through the influx of infotainment.
I am hence writing to you all within indymedia in the hope of securing an
informative and
dependable interviewee who would be willing to answer a few questions with
regards to
this topic area. I am geographically mobile, but as with all research
projects at this level,
time is not on my side.
Many Thanks
Ian Ballantyne
