[IMC-bristol] proposal to ban IP addresses

I've hidden a couple of these rhetorical threads as I don't think they're relevant to the newswire. Relevent for the e-mail list may be but not the news wire.

It appears to me that the news wire is still being continually targeted by a handful of folk grinding axes.

I think we still need to take a more pro-active stance with this persistent trolling. My suggestion is to ban IP addresses of certain known troublemakers - this is a function of the MIR software (used by UK_IMC) but not of DADA...so can we do anything about this? My computer knowledge is limited but is there a bit of script that could be inserted which allows us to do this? otherwise we will have to do it by hand which is labour intensive.

I feel that this is the most pressing problem now that BIMC needs to address. I fear if we do nothing then the site could be drifting towards oblivion.
