I don't think that we are, or indeed should be,
storing IP addresses at the moment or in the future
-which would be a pre-requisite for banning IP's as I
understand it.
I agree we still need to take a more pro-active stance
with this persistent trolling, but think that it can
be done with more editors and accountability.
When hiding a article I think that people should add a
comment saying why it's been hidden and identifying
themselves (even if it's with a pseudenym).
If you dont have time to add a comment then I would
argue that you dont have time to properly make the
decision to hide the article.
As well as allowing site users to see the reasoning
behind a decision, it would also help us to clarify in
our own minds why it contravenes the guidelines.
I also think we need to encourage more people to
become moderators as we are now quite a small group
for the number of postings.
