[CIMC-working] imc network fund raising, another big effort

Hi all,

There is another round of large scale fund raising efforts started now in
the indymedia network, called the tactical media fund, tmf.

There are potentially some positive aspects to this (in aiming for a
widespread funding effort) and there some problematic aspects, which go
against the Chicago proposal on grants that we created at the end of October

This is a note has link to a notes for the new tmf process by one of the
organizers:

It is a bit surprising to me again that some of the same strategic errors
are being made this time as last time, particularly: off list project work
making a lot of headway, asking for money from capitalists through (yes UC
IMC) and from (this time, George Soros' OSI foundation). I think we need
to be cool headed about this. In fact, it seems we all will become old
hands at this :)

I offered a friendly critique of this effort here at the listserv where the
discussions about this new effort are happening:

As this unfolds, locals may need to make statements again further
articulating their position on network fundraising and also on planning and
strategy making.

Best, Doug
