Hey gang,
yes, good work all around, like the layout Doug, and that clarifying
info good too Mr. Dick.
also, I haven't been able to follow all of the discussion on the
funding/server topic but I think it is going in a good direction. I think
making a declaration to other IMCs in opposition to UC-IMC type motives is a
good idea in that it also pushes solidarity in methods of ethical
fundraising. I feel we should strive to keep our operating costs minimal
and have the base of our fundraising come from the folks that use us. I
tend to think we should organize around the lower denominators than gambling
upon the hope of winning the lottery. The lottery mentality seems related
to the 'what-if" mentality. "What if" none of us had to work and we owned
the entire building on Diversey and we had laptops that we could plug into
our Vespa scooters in order to post the Big Feature and zoom off to the next
protest and every month we would all load into the winnebago to cover
whatever national protest there is, and if we're lucky one of the evidently
more skilled IMC Fundraisers lets us ride in her personal jet.
I think it was Dorothy Day that said you don't need 501c3 to wash
someone's feet. I do acknowledge that we need water and towels. well,
that's my weigh-in, I hope it doesn't sound like a rant, mr.g
