Doug, all,

I like this initiative -- fundraising should be an integral part of our
Indymedia work, along the lines of the proposed Tactical Media Fund, though
not necessarily through Soros' Open Society Institute.

The one condition that I will always stress is to have clear, concrete plans
for what potentially received funds would be used for. In other words, it's
crucially important to "work backward" from goals, in order to focus on how
to acquire only the funding required for achieving those goals. Fundraising
should not become institutionalized and/or bureaucratic.

So, I would recommend to the Chicago IMC that we first develop a concrete
wish-list, so that we know why we're bothering to solicit funds in the first
place.
