Hi
I'm Jim from San Diego I work with the NewsReal show. I was one of the
original folks who worked on getting San Diego IMC on the Network.
I've had to leave the SDIMC due to unprincipled methods of struggle on the
part of the "leading click", which has included lies, back stabbing,
political and personal baiting, undemocratic decision making, attacks
against other progressive people in San Diego who may disagree with SDIMC,
Violations of the IMC policies on anonymity, the carrying of racist posts,
and on and on...
I left a few months ago but was persuaded to come back to a meeting by some
folks in the community that thought that there were enough honest people
left in the SDIMC to make the organization worthwhile to work with. We were
subjected to name calling and temper tantrums and basically written off.
I've not attended a meeting since, everyone else that came to that meeting
to express their concerns also is no longer attending SDIMC meetings.
I've joined this list because I feel that this sort of thing is happening
in IMCs all over, and a strategy should include what really constitutes
membership in the network as well as some sort of method of dialog when
problems arise.
I belive that a loose network is possible but only if there is a tight
foundation to build the loose network on.
The proposed Charter needs to be finalized, as dishonest people will (have)
used the fact that it's only proposed to imply that it doesn't need to be
followed. Indymedia is very popular, it is a train that people are jumping
onto because it is popular. We have quantity we need quality.
Peace Love and Class Struggle
Jim
