Looks like satire to me. A friend of Nancy Shia's (DC) was doing
performance art based on readings of "Now for the Good News" as opposed to
the constant bad news we seem to get. It was actually bittersweet, to think
if but for a moment that these things could be true. She did one on
pre-school teachers receiving new starting salaries of 100k. She read these
in a newsy-broadcaster tone. She gave copies to me, but I haven't been able
to find them.
