[I think this discussion of code belongs on the Chicago-Tech list -- and Doug
can subscribe to that list too.]

I'd assume that any code supporting an IMC site can meet the 'principles'
criteria.  If we're listing criteria for selecting code, I'd put the
following near the top:

 - who is maintaining the {dada|SF} code base, issuing patches, responding
   to problems?  How many programmers are doing this?

 - how many sites are using the {dada|SF} code base?  How many programmers
   do they have committed to maintaining their local version?

 - what have users of the code base found to be problems? how long ago?
   were they fixed?  by whom?
