Can't make the redline meeting, but I like the direction that this is going
in, as per fundraiser. Their church fundraiser sounded a bit vague as to
what actually happened, but I like the sound of it. Food definitely sounds
like a good ingredient. Maybe like a media workshop festival type thing.
Good time for fun trainings? Remember- maybe we'll feel we're preaching to
the choir, but often the choir that you got to get to sing. We could do
semi-formal workshops (which probabaly require computers) like in the
afternoon of a Saturday and then have a dinner and then maybe movies along
with beer.
Thesis, come for an afternoon and learn solid things about doing media
and then relax/socialize with food and beer. then we'll watch a high-power
imc production so you can see what we all can do.
Who? interested media activists, organizers, etc.

>Redline is having a meeting on wednesday around 8pm at an undisclosed
>location on the northeast side of the city. If
>you or someone else from indymedia is interested in coming
>we can discuss items pertaining to you first so you don't
>have to experience the disorganization that is redline,
>except as it relates to indymedia. I was told to inform you
>that we are very informal and any mention of Robert's Rules
>of Order will result in the summary execution of the
>offending party/parties. Enough of that, just if you are or
>know anyone who is interested. I'll send more info as we
>figure it out.

>-Some sort of show/benefit that highlights the media monopoly. Possibly
>including a media monopoly tournament or something like that. Scott made a
>monopoly board game where the different colors are different markets of
>radio and instead of streets there are the top stations in that market, the
>railroads are newspapers, etc. I thought it was funny,
>don't know how we're gonna use it. Maybe just sell sets. I thought it's
>be good to send them anonymously to the fcc commissioners or radio stations
>around the city. last year we did this weird church carnival type
>fundraiser in the gym above the unity [I think] church in rogers park.
>Insight arts hooked us up with the space. It was a big success in the
>money department though I'm not sure many of the local people that came
>really sat down and talked with us or the groups we brought in. I think
>the idea is something like that. An attempt to not just preach to the
>converted by bringing people in with free food and games for their kids.
>Can anyone say cake walk?
>
>-I will be broadcasting on may 1st [5pm-10pm] and need to get my number to
>people who will be performing actions that day. I don't know if there is a
>rally planned or what is actually going on that day but would like calls so
>we can put people on the air if there is something happening.
>
>-I know you have "from the trenches" but thought perhaps someone would be

>not professionals but perhaps someone there would be interested in
>a show despite our diy nature. We need more news/commentary programmming.
>Spanish language programming in particular would be nice.

>The main thing about all of this is just opening up the dialogue between

>informal dj "get to know you" bbq for redline and would be glad to have

>my compatriots. More on that when I have a better idea of when/if that's
