[CIMC-work] outstanding CIMC issues -- any input, decisions?

All,

Okay, I just took notes from Garth and Ian's emails to keep track of these
discussion threads. Overall I agree with their analyses.

I agree with Garth that we should focus more on outreach and trainings, and
not so much about necessarily having office space. I also think that doing
screenings has been a good practice, as it helps with outreach, and later
with trainings, and of course, in showing content. I consider myself part of
the consensus for continuing screenings at WIDC, at the cost of $150 a pop
(that Garth mentioned).

I agree with Ian and Garth that video is a more involved process, and that
we should have a strategy (or framework) for how we would go about doing it,
and what level of content we can expect to achieve if we move forward on it.
I'm still running into aggravating logistical delays in getting a working
laptop with which to do video, so there isn't much for me to plunge into,
regardless, at the moment. I do foresee having enough time, once I have the
computer, to do competent video segments.

And I agree with Ian that we should be more deliberate about how we would
use a physical space. The best thing about the Diversey office space is the
conference room, to enable meetings and welcome newer people. But I see this
list as the best "place" to do day-to-day "business" (if you will) --
discussion, strategizing, decision-making....

I would be glad to volunteer my time and my expertise where it's wanted, in
the way of doing trainings for writing, and the technical side of digital
media production.

Garth, as you hone in on a date and time for your training, maybe I could
piggyback on that and we could re-contact volunteers and do other outreach
to connect with interested people. My schedule's fairly open at this
point....

Chris
