Subject: [Peace Pledge Calendar] Dec 10: International Human Rights Day
Next week there will be an important event in honor of International Human
Rights Day.
On Wednesday, December 10th at noon at the State of Illinois
Building at Clark and Randolph, Peace Pledge-Chicago and other
community and peace and social justice groups will hold a rally
and civil disobedience to protest various human rights violations
worldwide, with an emphasis on the occupations of Afghanistan,
Iraq, and Palestine. We will construct a wall of human rights
violations, with each 4 x 8 panel of the wall designed by a
different group. The wall will travel from the State of Illinois
Building to the Israeli Consulate at Wacker and Michigan, where
it will be symbolically destroyed.
If you are interested in participating in the civil disobedience
portion or would just like to learn more about nonviolent civil
disobedience, please attend a training on Saturday, December 6th
from 1-4 pm at 212 W. Superior. Please leave a message on our
hotline if you.re planning on attending the training. The number
to call is 312.494.5840.
We hope to see you on the 10th. Thanks for your support.
