[CIMC-work] Server status (coming close)

Micah and others got the server set up that we'll be using. The newborn
baby to replace stallman is named edna. I've got the software
more-or-less set up, at http://chicagodev.indymedia.org

I have to fix the display of the logo, though the updated header that
Emily gave me coincidentally had just the right height. Otherwise I'm
fairly happy with the look. The gray is kind of weak, and we've lost
some of the red elements we had before (which I liked), but it's fairly
close. (I edited all the style elements through the admin interface --
server access is not required, though it may be necessary to fix some of
these last elements)

You can see the admin stuff at http://chicagodev.indymedia.org/admin ,
with the user "admin", and a password based on the features password --
something1;something2 just becomes something1. (Maybe there's a limit
on the length of the password, because putting our entire password in
there didn't work) -- there's also an "editor" user with the same
password. Eventually each of us should have our own user account, but
we'll figure that out later. Editors get in through
http://chicagodev.indymedia.org/editor

Features work a bit different than they have before, and there's some
different details to submitting articles. I haven't really used it a
lot, so I don't know what all the changes are. There's quite a few docs
available on http://dadaimc.org , or through the site itself.

I want to do the content migration very soon -- we hope to shut down
Stallman by the 15th. Hopefully. Anyway, I'm going to try to do it
Thursday or Friday. I'll post something to the center column, then
disable posting to the newswire while the migration happens. I'm hoping
it'll take about half a day at most -- I'm going to try to find a time
when other people experienced with these migrations will be around on
IRC. Then poof! a whole new site.

  Ian

PS, sorry I haven't been too involved lately. There's a certain irony
in my last comments on indymedia.us and process, when I haven't been
keeping involved in process myself. Anyway, gotta focus on the tech
stuff for now...
