While I'll be gone for a while, this is all generally useful. Where to
go for tech support:
chicago-tech at indymedia.org -- our list
irc.indymedia.org -- irc is a live chatroom-style thing. This is the
best place to get quick help if you encounter problems. (It's also
good for being part of other global communities) #tech is the channel
for general tech, #server_crisis covers stuff we've been doing
recently. Questions about edna (our new server) should probably go to
#server_crisis. Everyone is very helpful, highly recommended. You can
connect through a Java applet on the webpage http://irc.indymedia.org,
or with another IRC client (e.g., newer Mozillas include ChatZilla, a
CZ icon in the bottom left).
imc-tech at indymedia.org -- the global tech list. Response can be a
little slow. It is important to give context to any problem -- people
sometimes say "your newswire is broken", and we have no idea which
newswire they are talking about.
imc-sysadmin at indymedia.org -- another global tech list. Was centered
on stallman, now it's more the set of global servers like edna,
kropotkin, etc. Tends to be internal discussions among sysadmins. But
most of the discussion really happens on IRC. (Maybe that's true of US
IMC too -- something to think about/ask about/try out)
So, that's what there is. I'm going to be gone from the 20th (today)
through January 9th, mostly without net access.
Ian
