And, the Intro Paragraph.
In the final countdown to the threat of an invasion of Iraq by the Bush
administration, the resistance of anti-war activists is also stepping up.
(increasing?) On the very cold morning of Monday, January the 24th at
8:20, 22 peace activists carried out a Die-In at Chicago's Federal Building
while 125 ralliers observed through the plate glass walls. All 22
participants of this Iraq Peace Pledge action were released the same day and
charged with criminal trespass.
Iraq Peace Pledge has signed near 60,000 people who will act in some way
against the war on Iraq. Many of these, coming from a diversity of
backgrounds have signed the additional pledge to engage in acts of civil
disobedience in order to stop our government's genocide upon the people of
Iraq.
Also, here is the original article posted by Chicago Matt with a good chain
of comments;
http://www.chicago.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=18919
Dick, this is all I can think of. I know it is standard practice to
list all the players of Chicago land activism, but do think it would not be
inappropriate to list only groups with a specific focus of Iraq? this being
for the purpose of focus? Of course I can see a section under the subtitle
of 'groups involved in solidarity'. and again, I could sooner see listing
smaller local groups which readers could identify as joinable. I trust your
judgement. also of course if I am leaving out an obvious group...
I won't be able to check email until tomorrow afternoon/evening.
On a separate note, I am fully moved into Albany Park and looking for
gainful employment. Not sure if I am going to NYC or not. Want to, but
wouldn't be ashamed to cover the Chicago event which may need more of our
coverage anyway.. discussion at next meeting... thanks, garth
Garth
Will be happy to code this and post it. Will need a short intro paragraph to
your commentary and link url, and you'll need to select 1 photo link that
you
want reduced to a thumbnail so we can place this in the storyblock as well.
Just email me the paragraph and photo link you want.
Best.
-Dick
