It's (almost) all in place. You can see it at:
http://chicago.indymedia.org/index-redes.php3
There's a typo in the header, and the header should also be scaled down
a bit, but that's it. Comments welcome. If people agree I'd like to
put this in place tomorrow night. But I'd hate to put a center column
piece above the Feb 15 center column. Not sure what to do... maybe I
could hard-code a note about it right at the top of the left sidebar,
linking to an article, and then we can take it out at some point. It
could go below the logo, which is decently prominent.
I tried to make the visited links stand out from the unvisited links,
but maybe it's too greenish. No, definitely too green, but it's
particularly important that it be distinct. Ideas?
I also put the Ongoing Coverage links on the left instead of right
(they are now in sidebar.inc, if someone wants to edit them) -- with
everything above the newswire it was getting pushed right off the front
screen, which seemed wrong.
For some reason IE/Windows seems to be doing okay again on the page. I
don't know what changed exactly, except perhaps my header image
treatment and some table fiddling.
I'd like to chop off 4 features from the front page to make it a more
reasonable length -- or maybe even 5 -- but I can't for the life of me
figure out where that is defined. Of course, if we ever start doing
shorter features more often (something I'd like) the optimal number for
the front page will go up again. And the newswire should probably be
shortened (I doubled it), since it's impacting load time. Was 25, now
50, probably 40 would be best.
Okay, goodnight all,
Ian
