Hello,
Garth Liebhaber of Chicago Indymedia here. I am interested in doing a
story on the departing IPT delegation. I am interested in personal
statements on each delegate's convictions in going, particularly if there is
something in their life that has moved them. I am talking to our audio
person on this and if I could put it in audio format, that would be great,
otherways a written statement would be good as well.
I would also like to photograph the departure (I assume from O'hare?)
and if I had moments to make direct portraits (head shots) to accompany the
text it would really help to build the story.
My intention is to make this story into a center column feature with
links to appropriate websites like vitw and iraqjournal as well as the new
electroniciraq.net. other suggestions would be useful. The point in doing
this article is to help people realize there are direct connections in what
they can do to stop the genocide.
I will have time this week until friday and then next week except for
wednesday. Your help in facilitating this is much appreciated.
Thank you and may we find peace,
Garth Liebhaber 773 583 7533

Dear friends,
We have been in touch with the teams in Iraq, and received word that our
most recent delegation has arrived safely. The next IPT delegation is
scheduled to leave Chicago on March 6th. Below you will find:
1) Press Release from the Iraq Peace Team in Iraq, on their way to the
Demilitarized zone on the border of Iraq and Kuwait
2) Iraq Peace Team's Encampment Statement of Purpose
Members of the Iraq Peace Team are available for interviews. Please
contact us at 773 784 8065/ info@vitw.org. Please continue to visit
www.iraqpeaceteam.org for updates and writings from the IPT.
Voices in the Wilderness is encouraged by the call from IPT in Iraq, that
"people of conscience all over the United States conduct a massive,
preemptive sit-down for peace."
We encourage the formation of US peace teams to challenge the forces of
war on multiple fronts. The Iraq Peace Team envisions preemptive
nonviolent action to coincide and highlight the presence of the three dozen
IPT members who are planning to stay in Iraq indefinitely.
Peace Teams in the US can consist of people committed to taking
preemptive nonviolent action at the centers of defense contractors,
government offices, weapons production plants, and civilian infrastructure
sites. We ask peace teams to consider conscientious objection and refusal
to finance war. We can offer assistance and collaboration in forming these
teams with over 150 returned IPT delegates. Call or write Voices in the
Wilderness, and see our list of IPT delegates at www.iraqpeaceteam.org
We are also putting out a paper mailing. Please send your mailing address
to info@vitw.org if you would like to receive a copy and you are not already
in our database.
peace,
voices in the wilderness chicago
