Sorry folks.

Homeless people DON'T have computers.

Many DON'T have basic literacy skills...!

sure it's nice to collect as much info as we can on the issue,
and it's also nice to have a "national" data base of resources.

But really, we got fight those things that cause homelessness.

In victoria we don't have a place for homeless people to come and read
indy-news stories.
Nor do we have computers, for homeless people to write their stories on.
Also, we do-not have staff-person who can help the "illiterate" to write
their
stories.

The people proposing wasting IMC resorces duplicating services (I feel),
DO-NOT understand issue of "homelessness"..!

Nor do I feel that they have a clear understanding of the conditions
home-less
people live under.

Lastly homelessness living conditions vary from region to region, city to
city...!
(effectively we'd be helping to concentrate the homeless into one camp site=
)

WINTER 2003: THE HOMELESSNESS MARATHON

CKUT AND LE GROUPE COMMUNAUTIARE L'ITIN=C9RAIRE TO HOST CANADA'S FIRST EVER
HOMELESSNESS MARATHON.

This 14-hour broadcast will begin at sunset on February 5th and
continue  through sunrise the next day.  The  broadcast will originate
from the streets of Montr=E9al, (yep ... an outdoor broadcast in the
middle of winter), and include panel  discussions, an open microphone on
the street, short pre-produced pieces, and live call-ins all night long
via a nationwide toll-free number.

Working in conjunction with the organizers of the US-based Homelessness
Marathon (now airing for its sixth year), Canada will link up with the US
broadcast for at least one hour for a continental perspective on
homelessness.

With the goal of being a consciousness raising event, this Marathon will
provide an opportunity for homeless people and their advocates to take to
the airwaves, and allow a nationwide discussion on homelessness issues.

The Homelessness Marathon is available for free to all non-commercial
broadcasters.  This is a very preliminary list of the stations that will
be carrying Canada's first ever Homelessness Marathon.
