Andy here.

I see nothing "vacuous" (as Chuck0 put it recently on Process list) about
consistent global decisions not to
have issue-based IMCs. The one cited as precedent, about climate, was
established before new-imc process was
established, so it kind of snuck in under the wire. Since then, the
reasoning has prevailed that if housing,
or other topics need to be addressed more, that should be done through the
network we have, not spun off into
a whole seperate entity.

There has been a lot of discussion on this topic, and it has not been
"vacuous", but very substantive. The
decision has been that we do not want to splinter IMC into a lot of issues,
or any other narrow tendencies or
preferences, but to maintain it as a comprehensive global media network that
addresses all of the news on all
of the issues, with equal access to all progressive tendencies and
preferences, issues, etc.

Why does Chuck0 insist on defying this consensus, by bringing yet another
such "proposal"? He also adamantly
supported the bogus Eugene GA "imc" (now defunct), in the name of
"diversity" and "creativity", because he
"liked" their site. He does not seem to really comprehend, or agree with,
the fundamental IMC Principles of
Unity, which clearly mandate that no IMC is to be controlled by any one
tendency, splinter group, faction, or
issue orientation. If he disagrees with such fundamental principles of the
network, then what is he doing
here?

And where does he get off, calling me a "disrupter", etc., for criticizing
his incorrect analysis and
practice? In fact, such adhominem dismissal, especially in defense of an
unprincipled position, which he
cannot defend in fact or documentation, is the truly disruptive practice.

It would be easy for him to start his own housing web site, and then to feed
news to IMC, with links to that
website for those who want to pursue that issue in more depth. He could
also work with the DC IMC, where he
lives, to develop a housing page linked to the front page, where all
articles posted to the wire pertaining to
housing can be collected. This could also be done on the global site, if it
hasn't already, with links to all
such local pages on the topic.

IMC is not about splintering our resources into redundant networks, but
about collectivizing our media
resources for more clout on all issues. I think persistence in resisting
this collectivization reflects an
incorrect analysis that any real collectivization is somehow a threat to
autonomy, and thus automatically an
illicit and oppressive "centralization". It is a fundamentally
anti-democratic analysis, deriving from
obsession with chaos.

Democratic pooling of resources does not necessarily translate into
"centralization" to "suppress" housing
issues or the GA chaos freak tendency, or whatever. It makes us stronger,
to more effectively address housing
and all other issues, collectively, democratically..It in no way restricts
Chuck0 or anyone else from spinning
off on their own tangent. Indeed, it can serve as a catalyst for just such
developments, to whatever extent
people are determined to do that, to see what involvement and support they
can generate.

But persistence in trying to hijack, splinter and divert IMC resources
should be grounds for reconsideration
of one's sincerety of committment to IMC Principles of Unity.
