As noted in the attachment, using URLs with the :8081 no-cache trick
won't work for a while. Do not be alarmed!

Oh, and hello again everyone. I still need to catch up with stuff, but
plan to do so before Sunday. Hope I haven't missed too much. No -- I
hope I have missed a tremendous amount!

  Ian

hi there,

as people probably have noticed, in the last days, the server called stallman
has been hugely loaded. That's because a company called Webclipping.com has
been scanning us restless.

Webclipping is a pain in the butt, they don't care specially about overloading
websites. That may be because their tech are idiots or simply because they all
are a bunch of, err, oh well.

It has showed hard to block them, because they have been scanning us using
the :8081 trick. (when one uses http://www.indymedia.org:8081, the pages
show quicker, in general).

Since we have had all sort of trouble with stallman these last days, i thought
the simpler configuration change, the better: so i have blocked this :8081
thing, it doesnt work anymore for them and, unfortunately it doesnt work
anymore for us.

Maybe it will improve the response time of the server. We also may change the
server config in the next days to do something a bit more clever.

cheers,
jb
