Subject: [IMC-Process] summary of process facilitation points [en, es]

Hi all,

This is a summary of facilitation points discussed by imc-process
co-facilitators on and off the imc-process-facilitation list over the last
two weeks. /

Main points:

John, Ana, and I are discussing facilitation practices.
Some proposals for moving forward are on the imc-process-facilitate list
and are being edited.

Ana is evaluating recent discussions and is compiling a summary of last
year's discussions.

John will be facilitating the screening of notes on the list from 1/19 to
2/2.
I'll be facilitating again from 2/3 to 2/18.
Ana is helping as she finds time.
Others are free to volunteer to help!

Screening of notes began 12/18/02.
So, 2/18 would be a good time the end of this round of facilitation (which
was approved to be for a two month period).
However, some sort of continuing facilitation process could be very helpful=
.

Further discussion and approval would be needed for continuing facilitation=
.

So, in February, proposal(s) for continuation will probably be made, based
on revised facilitation criteria and processes.

Puntos principales:

pod=EDa ser muy provechosa.

Discussion of facilitation points:

John, Ana and I have been exchanging notes about the further development
and clarification of facilitation criteria for the process list, which
could be effectively used in an ongoing way. Gaba is busy now. We hope
others join in with comments on the process and imc-process-facilitate list=
.

As noted on the list, the process list needs a decision procedure about
facilitation. A simple proposal about this, probably involving a 2 week
decision timeframe, based on processes existing on the new imc and
imc-finance lists, will be proposed soon.

Several minor facilitation points have been approved (and probably needed
to be re-approved through the above decision criteria) by the list:

That is, the suggested timeline of one week (now, 2 weeks have passed) for
comment has passed for this:
proposal: refining screening criteria--extensive cross-posting & exact
duplicate messages
http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/public/imc-process/2003-January/004490.h=
t
ml

So, these points will be included in the facilitation criteria and can be
further refined or suspended as the list wishes:
    - return for rewrite of excessive crossposts to 5 or more mailing lists=
.
    - return of exact duplicate messages sent to the list.

Some other criteria for facilitation would be helpful.

Several proposals have been made on the imc-process-facilitate list and
will be revised and sent to the process list soon about practices that will
help the list to be self regulating and more democratic. We need
volunteers to join in discussions there:

John has created a summary webpage about facilitation criteria, both those
existing and those to be proposed. A link to some version of that draft
webpage will be sent in another note sometime soon.

The issue of the need for diversity in communication was raised on the
process list last week.
It seems a top priority for many is for the process list is to create
workable multi-lingual list communication methods. It takes a lot of
effort to translate and help is needed for this.
Participation in the planing and carrying out of a workable multi-lingual
processes is needed.

Best, Doug
imc-process co-facilitator
