Hi Everyone,

Today the Tactical Media Fund (see www.tacticalmediafund.org) began
sponsoring its first project.  A brief overview of the project is below:

A/V Equipment and Media Production in Guatemala

The TMF will purchase A/V equipment which will be dedicated throughout its
lifespan for non-profit, public domain, media production.  The first
care-taker/user of this equipment will be a human rights activist in
Guatemala.  When such time comes as this recipient does not make
productive use of the equipment anymore, they and the original equipment
funder will agree upon a new care-taker.  Any care-taker will have the
same responsibility to make productive use of the equipment and take
reasonable precautions to safeguard the equipment.  However they will have
no liability, it is understood that such items may easily break or be
stolen in the areas where they will be used.

The first project for the equipment has not been determined.  However,
prior to the WTO protests in Cancun in September, the human rights
activist may be leading a delegation of activists to indiginous
communities affected by trade policies.  A desirable and model use would
be to document these activities.

The funder and project are entirely outside of the Indymedia Network;
however, given concerns raised on these lists I thought I should forward
