Thanks for coming to yesterday's kick off meeting for our efforts to
mobilize to protest the FTAA in November and to stop CAFTA.  I think we are
off to a good start, but there is much work to be done.

As agreed to at yesterday's meeting, there are currently 4 working
groups that should meet and began work before or next general meeting on
August 5th.  Those groups are:

1. Miami Mobilization -- This group will began the logistics work
necessary to get Chicagoans down to Miami in November for the protests
there.

2. Local Action -- This group will work on proposals
for local actions related to the mobilization.

  Adam Kader (adamexplosion at hotmail.com)
 
3. Educational Campaign -- This group will prepare an
outline of the educational effort that will take place
to help build for November.
  Convener -- Jason Wallach (msn at mexicosolidarity.org) 
  Members - Darlene Gramigna (econafsc at igc.org)
  I don't have this list, contact Jason for details.

4. Legislative Efforts -- This group will work on plans
for legislative lobbying in Illinois to kill CAFTA and
the FTAA.

5. Direct Action -- This group will plan direct action strategies to be
employed at protests in Miami.  I am not sure who the convener of this
group is or who is on it.  Please someone post to this list and provide
details.

Our next general meeting will be August 5th, probably again at UNITE
(though I need to confirm this).  The working groups should meet prior to
that meeting and have reports prepared for the general meeting.  It is the
convener's responsibility to see that this happens.  Please post your
meeting date, time and place on this list so others may join you.
