Didn't make the screening or meeting (but I still exist, I assure you.)
I bought an Archos device for myself, so I can do on-the-spot recording and/or digitization of audio (from any other audio source). After recording, then transferring the resulting mp3 files to the computer via (slow-ish) USB (1.1), shareware software allows one to edit the ("encoded", or compressed) mp3 file itself -- no need for conversions once audio is in the mp3 format. Editing large files (2-3 hours of stereo-music quality) can be on the slow side, so it always helps to experiment on small selections separately, first.
So the point of all this being that I'd be glad to meet people who have audio they want to edit, regardless of format, and I could digitize the audio wherever and mail back a CD. We could even offer our office computers for audio editing, as long as the project is intended for CIMC ("firstly and primarily"!).
