Coo', coo' -- thanks, Garth. Hope y'all don't mind me weighing in virtually=

Subject: [CIMC-work] yo, notes from the meeting y'all missed

First move was to split the treasury between Chris, Dick, Don and myself. I=
t=20
lasted a few hours down at the bar before it ran out and we went home.

---
Okay, that's just far too little money to cover that kind of bar tab. Maybe=
we could do more frequent fundraisers so that those barstools warm up, a=
t least. :)
---

no, no, just kidding. okay, here's some rough meeting notees:=E0D

Upcoming Center Columns:=0ED
  e *Bike Summer,
garth just posted all info and links to listserve. garth will=
=20
get photos of events at Buddy
      *Housing Action this Thursday
Dick and Garth are covering this
     *Radio Project
Garth is fielding input from Tom Robb @wzrd and redline to get=
=20
comprehensive list of Chicago Radio
Projects. input welcome to build story block.
*August 23rd Bring the Troops Home, CCAWR event, replicating intended=
=20
M20 march route.
*Day Laborers, Chris G. is digging up more content...
*Also, there are many fall events to gear up for, in particular Miami=
=20
Nov.17-21, many busses from Chicago. Oct. 25th is a March on the Pentagon,=
=20
again, many busses. This should be BIG.

Other talk centered around getting the Chicago Radio community together=
=20
for the Free Radio Berkeley project which involves a national day of=20
micro-radio broadcasting. Radio Free Berkely is training activists to use=
=20
$150 micro broadcasters that they are supplying.. taking back the waves...

---
VERY cool -- as usual, there's strength in numbers, so the more transmitter=
s, the better, doubtlessly. I imagine that it might be worth considering =
a blanketing of as many areas in the city as possible, preferably of the =
same broadcast, off an Internet audio stream -- just a thought.
---

Women in the Director's Chair gave us the proposal that if we committed to=
=20
one day a month where we would have a video fundraiser we could have a=20
discounted rental price from 250 to 150...opinions voiced anxiety over=20
commitment, that we would lose our needed flexibility and always having new=
=20
footage to show.

---
Yeah, I would have the same concern. If we were to consider this proposal f=
urther, do you think it would be doable if we showed some previous materi=
al at each subsequent screening, but rotated some new material in at each=
one (so there would be "re-runs", but always some new material)...?
---

CAN-TV also voiced interest in doing video training for a "team" of imc=20
videographers, motive being that they need local footage to justify their=
=20
existance and this would be a good way to encourage its growth. Also,=20
perhaps this would be good way to get the video people together? more of=
=20
the leadership for that needs to come from video people.....thoughts?

---
Through fortuitous developments I will have a new 800mHz iBook in my posses=
sion within the week -- I'm looking forward to *finally* being able to do=
some video, with it. Count me in (this time, I hope!).
---

what else? when can we do a training on html for Center Features? MLE=20
voiced interest and I (garth) would like a second attempt at it.

---
How about just posting a few HTML templates on this list? People could copy=
, edit, and paste rather easily without necessarily having to even know w=
hat the tags mean.... (And online tutorials are plentiful.)

our office is near complete, the space we have looks just as if not more=20
useful than the way it was before. let's make it our space, even if we=20
don't use it. We was wondering, MLE, if you can print poster size prints o=
f=20
CIMC propaganda, stuff. Like a large size version of the poster for the=20
Video Fundraiser we had at Buddy? Or perhaps a poster-size version of our
wonderful logo? If I scan a super large file of some dramatic pictures can=

you type over some C-IMC propaganda words? Does anyone have a good map of
Chicago, or know where I can pick one up?

blah blah blah,
good night,
garth
